Coat of Arms and Flags of the Royal County of Berkshire

A regrant of Arms for the Royal County of Berkshire was made by the College of Arms on 28th March 2019. The grant was made to Berkshire Ceremonial Ltd, a company limited by guarantee and formed for the purpose (company number 11450327). At the same time a grant was made for the official flag for the Royal County which is derived from the coat of arms. The Directors of Berkshire Ceremonial Ltd. comprise: Mr James Puxley, Mr Graham Barker (Vice Lord Lieutenant), Christina Hill Williams (Deputy Lieutenant) Mr Jonathan Gater (Under Sheriff and company secretary),Mrs Susan Halliwell (Clerk to the Lieutenancy) and, ex officio, the current High Sheriff of the Royal County of Berkshire.

Both the coat of arms and the Flag were registered as Trademarks on 9th August 2020. The trademarks are held by Berkshire Ceremonial Ltd.

PERMISSION TO USE THE ARMS AND FlAG OF THE ROYAL COUNTY OF BERKSHIRE

Organisations and individuals who wish to use the arms or the flag are encouraged to apply to Berkshire Ceremonial Ltd using the forms below.

For permission to use the Arms please complete and submit the Coat of Arms form below giving your details and stating the purpose for which the arms will be used. The form will be sent to Mr Jonathan Gater at Blandy & Blandy in Reading. Please note that if the application is successful a fee is payable to Berkshire Ceremonial Ltd.

If you wish to request a Flag, please complete and submit the Flag request form below. The form will be sent to Mr Jonathan Gater at Blandy & Blandy in Reading. Please note that if the application is successful a fee is payable to Berkshire Ceremonial Ltd and you will need to complete a second form, BCLF002 ( printed flags),or BCLF003 (hand-sewn flags) to purchase flags which should be sent to Mr Simon Carter DL.


GUIDANCE ON THE USE OF ARMS AND FLAG

It is envisaged that the use of the arms will mainly be for organisations or events that have a legitimate and relevant County context. The use of the flag is encouraged by all legitimate and relevant organisations or individuals in all areas of the County.

Flag Description: Single thickness woven polyester bunting flag in white with Royal County of Berkshire design dye printed in blue, gold, black and red. To read correctly one side; mirror image on reverse. Roped and toggled ready to fly.

1.5 yard (140cm x 70cm) suitable for flagpole approx. 4.5m tall @ £90.00 plus VAT

2.0 yard (180cm x 90cm) suitable for flagpole approx. 6.0m tall @ £120.00 plus VAT

3.0 yard (270cm x 135cm) suitable for flagpole approx. 9.0m tall @ £200.00 plus VAT
